Harbor Notes

About

Harbor Notes is a weekly letter on container freight: what a box costs to move, why the price changed, and what the schedule data said before the index did. It goes out every Tuesday at 07:00 Rotterdam time.

I’m Ines Varga. I spent nine years pricing Asia to Europe contracts for a mid-sized forwarder, which mostly meant reading carrier schedules until they started to look like weather. Harbor Notes is the analysis I used to write for our sales team, rewritten for anyone who buys, sells or forecasts freight.

What you get

About two issues in five are free in full. The rest open with a free section and continue for members. Every issue carries a number and the week it covers, so the archive reads like a ledger: you can find what I said about the Suez detour in week 40 and check it against what happened.

Harbor Notes started in November 2025, took the first half of 2026 off while I changed jobs, and has gone out every Tuesday since July. New here? Start here.

Corrections

When I get a number wrong, the correction runs as its own short issue so it shows up in the archive. The corrections page lists every one.
